Woodbridge Energy Center -?Woodbridge Township, N.J.
The Woodbridge Energy Center (WEC) is a 700-megawatt gas-fired power plant located on the site of an abandoned chemical plant. It will generate enough electricity to power more than 600,000 homes while increasing grid reliability. In an effort to stay eco-friendly, as well as cutting edge, the facility will use the most advanced generation technology today and, when complete, WEC will be one of the nation’s cleanest and most efficient generation stations.
CPV Shore selected Kiewit to engineer, procure, construct and start up the new facility. Equipment includes two GE F Class .05 turbines — one of the first applications of its kind, a GE STG, 2 HRSGs and a wet cooling tower. Kiewit will also meet the stringent requirements for air quality, noise and other discharges to minimize effects to the local community.
As part of CPV’s mission to conserve natural resources, the WEC will use predominantly “grey water” to meet facility cooling needs. This will minimize the plant’s impact on water resources and the environment for a cleaner, more sustainable future.
